CORTEZ, N.M. (KRQE) – A southern Colorado man is accused of murdering his mother, then burning her body.
The Journal reports 36-year-old Jeremiah Damron was arrested in Cortez on Thursday after his mom’s body was found in his backyard. According to prosecutors, there was evidence she had been beaten with a folding chair and set on fire.
The night before his arrest, Montezuma County deputies were called to Damron’s house to reports of a domestic violence and assault, but here called off after he threatened to kill the deputies.
Deputies were in the process of obtaining a warrant for his arrest when they learned of the homicide.
