Social media posts lead to computer recovery

A social media post led to the recovery of a stolen iMac computer in Albuquerque. Saturday night, KRQE News 13 reported on a break-in at New Mexico Prints Gallery.

Thieves got away with a $6,000 computer and two prints worth about $1,000 each after throwing a manhole cover through the front window.

“It seemed like they were on a mission. One way in and straight to the computer, I don’t know,” said Robert Jaramillo, co-owner of New Mexico Prints Gallery.

After the owners posted about the stolen goods on Facebook, one of their friends spotted Leroy Lopez walking down Central with the computer under his arm. That friend approached Lopez who tried to sell him the computer for just $200.

He was scheduled to appear in front of a judge Sunday but his hearing was reset. The stolen prints are still missing.

If you see them, contact the police.
