CYFD and a foster care agency have been hit with a lawsuit following claims that a foster parent was molesting girls in his care.

Back in August, KRQE News 13 reported on Special Assignment about claims a foster parent had been sexually abusing girls in his care for almost 20 years.

Eight girls, some as young as 6, came forward through the years, but nothing was done to the man.

Now, the mother of one of the girls is suing.

According to the lawsuit, the teen was repeatedly raped in 2015 after being placed in the home by Familyworks, a nonprofit licensed through CYFD.

The suit also claims she was put on birth control to prevent her from becoming pregnant.

The mother claims it could have been prevented if CYFD and the agency had not dismissed sexual abuse claims by other girls.

Police are investigating, but the man has not yet been charged.
