Senior services provider asks judge to stop state from ending contract

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An agency that provides senior services is asking a judge to stop the state from taking over its contract.

The Non-Metro Area Agency on Aging, or “Triple A,” reimburses dozens of providers all over New Mexico on behalf of the state.

Those providers include Meals on Wheels, Respite Care, Homemaker Services, and Senior Transportation Services.

Wednesday, Triple A filed a motion in district court to stop the state from ending its contract and dealing with providers on its own.

The agency says that would violate federal law, as well as federal and state regulations.
