Preschoolers and the elderly teamed up Wednesday to give back to the homeless in time for the holidays.
The Mayberry Senior Center and the preschoolers who go to school on the same campus put together “blessing bags.”
The care packages include winter clothes, bottles of water and hygiene products.
The project has been going on for two and a half years, and gives residents at the senior facility a chance to work alongside kids to teach them about the importance of giving back.
“This community service project is very important for us because it gives the opportunity for our seniors to give back to help each other, to help the kids, and obviously the kids love it as well as kind of going around in the format of trick-or-treating,” said Jessica Lager, CEO and owner at Mayberry Senior Services.
The group made 600 bags Wednesday and hopes to continue to grow the program over the years.
