South Valley residents are the subject of a new art sculpture.
Dolores Huerta Gateway Park is now home to “Vecinos,” a sculpture created by Mark Horst and students from Working Classroom.
More than 100 South Valley residents were photographed and interviewed about what they love about the South Valley.
The profiles of 10 of the participants were then selected for the piece.
“At first it was, do we base it off of their faces? And we thought, no, it has to be based on the stories they told us. It has to be interviews. It has to be based on the things that they felt were important to tell us,” student Carlos Gabaldon said.
