SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Santa Fe unveiled a new sculpture at one of its fire stations Monday afternoon.

The statue is a 6ft tall, red Dalmatian puppy called “R. Hero”.

The city hopes the aluminum puppy statue will honor first responders and inspire youth to become heroes.

“The Hero in You Foundation,” which donated the sculpture, also educates kids on emergency safety.

“This is all about celebrating art through education and certainly through being able to ensure that families are safe,” said Santa Fe Mayor Javier Gonzales.

The sculpture is one of 25 sculptures around the country.
