Schoolkids collect spare change for charity fundraiser

These kids are changing lives with pennies.

Sandia Vista Elementary presented the results of their ‘penny war.’ Students came together in a friendly battle to raise some money with their spare change, all while having fun doing it.

“The message I want students to learn is that it’s about giving and not about taking, so the more we can give to each other the richer they’ll be in their life,” Principal Patricia Divasto said.

In just one week, students were able to raise $2,200 for the Ronald McDonald House, along with thousands of toiletries and toys. The money that was raised will help provide breakfast to families at the Ronald McDonald House.
