Santa makes annual stop to visit children at Presbyterian Hospital

Kids at Albuquerque’s Presbyterian Hospital got a surprise when Santa arrived in style Thursday morning in a helicopter.

It’s his annual trip from the North Pole.

Each year, he makes a special stop to visit kids who won’t get to spend the holidays in the comfort of their own homes.

Officials say it brings joy to kids and their families during a time when they need it most.

“Parents always are appreciative. They’re obviously always very concerned about their child being sick and in the hospital and to have something like this to lift spirits is certainly always appreciated,” said John Pederson, the children’s program medical director.

Santa handed out presents and spoke to kids about their Christmas wishes.

He says he traded in his reindeer for the helicopter because they need to rest for Christmas Eve.
