Santa Fe Shelter recognized as ‘no-kill’ organization

Santa Fe is getting recognition for saving animals.

American animal welfare group Best Friends Animal Society has named Santa Fe a “no-kill community.”

To be considered for the no-kill category, a city must save 90 percent of its homeless animals.

In 2017, the Santa Fe Animal Shelter’s save rate was 94.2 percent.

The achievement adds a third city to New Mexico’s list of no-kill communities, including Corrales and Raton.
