SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The city of Santa Fe is one of the top contenders for a National Geographic award.
The magazine has narrowed its candidates for the “World Legacy Awards” down to three in each category. One of the top picks for the best “sense of place” is Santa Fe.
National Geographic describes the city as a “vibrant western hub,” praising its focus on preserving the historic feel of the region and educating the public on cultural traditions.
Santa Fe is up against a travel company in Canada and a non-profit arts collective in Peru for the top spot.
The winners will be announced in March.
