Santa Fe County deputies say three elderly people were scammed out of nearly $50,000.
In one case, scammers called a 74-year-old woman pretending to be with a timeshare property she had. They told her they could rent it out, and she would make money if she agreed to pay for fees.
The victim is now out $30,000.
Deputies say a 69-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman were scammed in two similar incidents.
Deputies are warning people not to send anyone money without doing research first.
