Sandoval County Sheriff warns about phone scammers

News

SANDOVAL COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A scam using the name of a Sheriff’s deputy is making the rounds.

The Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office says someone is calling around claiming to be a sergeant and saying the caller failed to show for jury duty. They claim they must pay $1,500 or have an arrest warrant issued.

An investigation into these calls is taking place and the County Sheriff’s Office says they won’t ask for payments over the phone or through email.
