SANDOVAL COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Sandoval County Commissioner James Dominguez has announced he’s stepping down from his post. The move comes as part of a plea agreement, following criminal charges filed by his ex-wife.
According to the Rio Rancho Observer, in November of 2015, Dominguez was arrested and charged with false imprisonment, battery against a household member among other related charges.
According to county rules, because he took a plea for a felony charge, he could have been fired or faced disciplinary action. So instead, Dominguez resigned.
