Sandia to conduct controlled explosive tests Wednesday

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – Sandia National Laboratories plans to conduct three controlled explosive tests, Wednesday, Jan. 25, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., on the south side of Kirtland Air Force Base.

Albuquerque residents could hear an explosion associated with the experiment. Some black smoke and dust might be visible above the Base for a short time following the test.

The test is being conducted in accordance with permits for Sandia’s test facilities and in compliance with all applicable environmental regulations.

Test dates and times are subject to change based on weather conditions and the experiment supports Sandia’s national security missions.
