Some bomb squads are testing out their problem-solving skills in Albuquerque. The 13th annual “Robot Rodeo” kicked off Wednesday at Sandia National Labs.
Teams from all across the world are working with hazardous duty robots in simulated emergency situations. Their goal is to maneuver obstacles with the robot so they never have to put on their bomb suit. Each team has an hour and a half to complete their task.
“We get to see, ‘Oh, well, we fell short here, so how can we improve the situation and what can we do better next time?'” U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Michael Marquez said.
Local teams include Kirtland Air Force Base and New Mexico State Police.
