Dozens waved goodbye to their locks Saturday to show solidarity for cancer’s youngest victims.
The Saint Baldrick’s Foundation held its annual head-shaving event at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho. The event raises funds and awareness for lifesaving childhood cancer research. Men and women braved the shears, raising more than $25,000.
“It pulls at the heartstrings and seeing these little children having to battle such a terrible disease. If we can help them be kids again, that’s what we’re here for,” said Aaron McDevitt, the event’s organizer.
Since the event’s inception in 2007, volunteers have raised more than $455,000.
