Roswell teacher arrested, accused of embezzlement


ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – A Roswell teacher has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $300,000 from a Dexter business.

Michelle Fuentes, 44, is accused of embezzling nearly $327,000 from Jim Farms in Dexter where she used to work as a bookkeeper.

According to police, a new employee noticed some discrepancies which eventually revealed that Fuentes was putting company money into her personal accounts and using them to pay personal bills.

KRQE News 13 is trying to find out which school Fuentes worked at and what her status with Roswell schools is. We have not gotten a call back from the district.

According to court records, Fuentes is also being sued by a Delaware bank because she owes them more than $5,000.
