Rio Rancho Police warn about fake mystery shoppers scam

News

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – Rio Rancho Police are warning about a scam offering to hire people as mystery shoppers.

The department says the scammers find applicants through Facebook and Craigslist, promising them a job assessing customer service at businesses.

The first assignment is often to evaluate a money transfer service like Western Union or Moneygram by wiring money to the scammer.

Police urge people to be wary about any offer that asks you to wire money to someone you don’t know.
