Rio Rancho police looking for suspected arsonist

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – A rash of fires in a Rio Rancho neighborhood has law enforcement officials and homeowners looking for answers.

In the past few weeks, Rio Rancho firefighters have responded to four house fires in a neighborhood near 19th and Golf Course.

Investigators say itโ€™s clear at least one of the fires was intentionally set. There are families that live in two of the homes. There’s no evidence the others were arson, but the close proximity raises suspicions.

“The times of the fires are 6 a.m., 8 p.m., this one Sunday at 11:30 in the morning broad daylight, this person is getting more risky and more dangerous,” said Rio Rancho Fire Department Investigator Jessica Duron-Martinez.

One neighbor was able to catch a suspicious male on surveillance video. He’s wanted for questioning.

If anyone has any information they are asked to call Rio Rancho police.
