Ribbon tying event raises awareness for domestic violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the City’s Family Advocacy Center wants victims to know help is available.

Police officers and victim advocates tied purple ribbons around the Family Advocacy Center near Seventh Street and Silver Tuesday morning.

The center provides victims of domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault with a safe environment to address and overcome the trauma.

“I think its a matter of getting them the resources that they need to get them out of that situation that they’re in,” says APD Cmdr. Paul Duran.
