ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham has introduced a bill she says will make sure VA Hospitals are improving care.
The VA Hospital in Albuquerque recently got a two-star rating despite years of promises to improve patient care and cut wait times.
Now Lujan Grisham wants to assign an independent federal monitor to oversee the VA’s lowest performing medical centers, which includes Albuquerque.
Her bill also calls for a change to the way claims are handled. The congresswoman says veterans often suffer for months waiting for an appointment or for their disability claim to be reviewed.
Under the act they will automatically be eligible for services while their claims are considered.
