Tens of thousands of dollars were awarded to local nonprofits Thursday in honor of Jennifer Riordan.
The Jennifer Riordan memorial trust presented $50,000 in grants to charitable groups like the Family Advocacy Center and Galloping Grace Youth Ranch.
Riordan was killed in April when an engine explosion on her Southwest Airlines flight shattered the window she was sitting next to.
Riordan spent her life giving to others.
After her death, hundreds of people from around the world donated to the charity set up in her name.
Riordan’s husband Michael says the groups chosen exemplify his wife’s principle of always being “kind, loving, caring, and sharing.”
