ESPANOLA, N.M. (KRQE) – Two men accused of stealing a purse from a senior citizen have been caught after leading police on a chase.
Police say 22-year-old Joshua Martinez and 35-year-old Steven Maez targeted the 67-year-old victim at the Espanola Walmart because her purse was hanging over her shoulder and not around her neck.
Police say the men then fled, leading police on a high speed chase. Police said they threw the purse and a b.b. gun out of the car.
The purse snatchers stopped in La Mesilla, about ten miles away, and ran on foot before being arrested.
