SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Another setback in the proposal to build next to the historic Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe.
Maggie Anderson and her family own the chapel and surrounding property. They want to build a four-story retail and residential building right next to the Santa Fe landmark. It’s an issue that’s gone back and forth with the city’s Historic District Review Board and the city council.
Tuesday night, the board voted to postpone the project for another redesign. They say they are still concerned about the size, despite changes to minimize blocking the view of the chapel.
If the plans are ever approved, it would also include a space for weddings and an underground parking garage.
