The dry conditions are so bad in New Mexico right now, the Santa Fe National Forest is putting all planned prescribed burns on hold.
A prescribed burn was scheduled this week in the Coyote Ranger District, but forest managers say right now it’s just too risky.
All of the Santa Fe National Forest and parts of the Cibola Forest are currently under stage one fire restrictions.
It the monsoons hit, forest managers say they will be reevaluated and there could be burns later in the season.
