ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)– Skiers and snowboarders are back on solid ground after a power outage left them stranded on the ski lifts at Sandia Peak.

Sandia Peak says the outage caused two lifts to stop completely around 1230 Saturday afternoon.

Shari Berg tells News 13 she was stuck on lift three for about an hour before rescuers used a rope to bring her and her fiancé down safely.

A backup generator was eventually started and ski lifts started moving again.

Sandia Peak Ski Area officials say full power was restored around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
