Portales company to pay for road repairs needed after mineral oil spill

PORTALES, N.M. (KRQE) – A Portales company has agreed to foot the bill for the destructive mineral oil spill caused by vandals.

The spill happened last month when vandals opened a valve inside a JD Heiskell Feed manufacturing facility.

Mineral oil covered the streets for several blocks. Officials say the damage to the road may be extensive, but it could be months before they know just how bad.

According to the Eastern New Mexico News, the Portales city manager told city councilors the company has agreed to pay for all road repairs.
