The University of New Mexico’s Health Sciences Center is looking for more money from legislators to help with its child abuse response team.

They help provide medical care and social work services for survivors of child abuse. The center says it wants to grow the team, which is dealing with more cases.

Among their responsibilities: assessing a child’s injuries to determine if they were accidental or caused deliberately by someone else.
