A House bill to overhaul taxes in New Mexico is meeting with the new opposition, this time from the city of Albuquerque.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, the city’s CFO says there are too many unknowns in House Bill 6 and that cities can’t afford any potential burden from a tax experiment.

The bill aims to lower the state’s gross receipts tax rate, increase the gasoline tax and tax internet sales while eliminating many existing tax deductions.

Health insurance companies and other business interest groups are also opposing the tax.
