It’s now up to the governor to make access to dental care easier for low-income families in the state.

House Bill 308 is on its way to Governor Lujan Grisham’s desk. The bill would help people who are low-income, publicly insured, uninsured or living in rural and tribal areas have access to care from a dental therapist.

Officials say the governor is set to sign the bill which would make New Mexico the eighth state to adopt dental therapists programs.
