Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has signed the state’s $7 billion budget.

Along with public schools, substantial funding increases are slated for economic development incentives, the Department of Transportation, and child protective services.

The budget also includes pay increases for teachers and state workers. Last year’s budget was just $6.3 billion.

The increase is due to record-breaking oil and natural gas production in southeast New Mexico.
