The State House passed a bill Tuesday that would make New Mexico in the forefront for clean energy.

The Energy Transition Act would shut down the San Juan Coal Plant and change it into a renewable energy site.

The bill would give millions of dollars to PNM to move forward with renewable energy sources like solar and wind.

The bill is now headed to the governor’s desk where she’s expected to sign it.
