RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – There was quite the bear hunt Friday in and around Rio Rancho, and it appears this one got away.

Sky News 13 flew above as Game and Fish for hours to find a bear that showed up in the neighborhood near Rainbow and Tulip.

Schools were put on lockdown, but the bear gave officers the slip pretty quickly.

There was another sighting a few hours later near the Rainbow Pool. Once again, the bear managed to elude officers and was much more camera shy than the bear Thursday roaming Paradise Hills.

Video from Thursday showed the bear hopping over several walls. It eventually took two darts to take him down. He was relocated to the Santa Fe National Forest.

Rio Rancho officials are telling people to keep an eye out for Friday’s bear.
