Police arrest second suspect in Albuquerque home invasion

News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Police have caught the second suspect in a home invasion that turned deadly.

They said 41-year-old Ramon Varela is one of two masked men who broke into a home last month near 98th Street and Sage Road.

Investigators said his accomplice, 20-year-old Raymond Sanchez, used to work for the homeowner.

When the homeowner caught the two men in his house, he shot at them, hitting Sanchez and killing him.

Police arrested Varela Monday at a local hotel. They said he had a gunshot wound from the night of the home invasion.

The homeowner is not expected to be charged.
