Police arrest man accused of murdering his mother

News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A woman’s body was found in a cardboard box Monday night and police say they know who put her there.

Officers asked by staff at Kaseman Hospital to perform a welfare check on the woman after she called, saying her son may have put a substance in her drink.

That woman’s son, 37-year-old John McArthur was undergoing a mental health evaluation at the hospital at the time.

They say her son admits to adding a powder known as dragon’s breath in her drink Sunday, but didn’t notice any change in his mom’s behavior.

He says when his mom asked him to leave the home he got angry and strangled and beat her.

He’s facing an open count of murder.
