A local student will get a full ride to college thanks to a national photography program.
Photojournalist Linda Solomon founded the “Pictures of Hope” program.
It teaches students photography basics, then sends them out to document their hopes and dreams.
Thursday Solomon visited Health Leadership High School in southeast Albuquerque and surprised 15 students with new cameras for the project.
“I really want to capture some pictures of the road, like a long road you know and the journey ahead of you. You don’t know where you’re gonna go or what you’re gonna do,” said Iliana Esparaza, a senior from the school.
Student work will be featured in an exhibition this May where one lucky student will be awarded a full ride to Blackburn College in Illinois.
