Petroglyph National Monument visitors brought $7.2M to area

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Petroglyph National Monument is apparently a big money maker for the community.

The National Park Service says that $125,000 people visited the monument last year and spent $7.2 million in the area.

They figure that spending supported 120 local jobs. The National Park Service says National Park tourism is a significant driver in the national economy, returning more than $100 for every $1 invested by the federal government.

By the way, the Park Service says the visitors to the Petroglyphs last year came from 60 different countries.
