Petition started to name an official dog breed of New Mexico


ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – There’s a unique petition going around asking for an official dog breed of New Mexico. The petition started on is asking for the “Rez Dog,” or stray dogs you see on the pueblos, be named the official state dog.

The person who started the petition says it would honor them and bring more awareness to them.

They are taking the petition to State Sen. John Pinto of McKinley and San Juan counties.

So far, they have nearly 300 signatures.
