After PETA called out the Spring River Zoo in Roswell for the conditions of its habitats, the animal rights group is now applauding the zoo’s plans to fix the problems.
“Today I can say that if the city implements the master plan, I can see a day in the not so distant future when PETA could add your zoo to the list of reputable facilities to work with,” PETA officials said.
Last summer, PETA said animals were living in unnatural conditions, and some didn’t have enough room to roam. Since then, the zoo has made upgrades, with more renovations outlined in a plan unveiled earlier this year.
The zoo, which has free admission right now, has said it may start charging admission to pay for the upgrades.
