People with opioid addictions could soon qualify for medical marijuana cards

News

People trying to overcome opioid addiction may soon get access to medical marijuana.

The state’s medical cannabis board will consider whether to add opioid addiction to the list of qualifying conditions. There are 21 approved conditions for patients to get a medical marijuana card, but right now opioid addiction is not one of them.

The board is expected to discuss the issue at its next meeting this Friday. The State Health Secretary will make the final decision.
