Package thief wearing shirt honoring late father caught on camera

Albuquerque sees it all the time: a thief caught on camera stealing packages. However, for business owners in the small, quiet village of Corrales, it was a surprise.

“It’s pretty shocking and disturbing you know?” said Mark Meddleton, owner of Meddleton Equine Clinic.

A woman caught on camera stealing packages is clearly visible in the video, but it’s what she’s wearing that also gives her away. It’s a memorial t-shirt for her dad. It says, “My dad, forever my angel. Always on my mind, forever in my heart,” but there’s no name listed.

“You think it’d be meaningful,” Meddleton said. “You wouldn’t think she would be wearing that running around committing larceny.”

The theft was caught on surveillance cameras at the Meddleton Equine Clinic off of Corrales Road. The thieves showed up just minutes after a UPS truck left the clinic.

“I suspect that she was hoping there may be something of value to resell, or possibly some drugs or medications that she could use or something,” Meddleton said.

However, what they made off with, was far from it.

“I had some supplies from Amazon,” Meddleton said. “Some ivory liquid that we use for cleaning, and some paper towels, a couple of things like that.”

Now, the Corrales Police are searching for the suspects. The thieves took off in an older model red Ford Escape. The clinic says the stolen supplies were worth more than $1,000.
