First responders and city officials are learning how to better invest in local communities.
Mayor Tim Keller, Albuquerque Police Department, and officials from the Department of Health hosted a barbecue in the International District Saturday. It was part of the city’s community policing effort and also an opportunity or neighbors to address real issues with people who can really help.
“We’re really trying to remember that we live here together, we work here together, so it’s important that we also talk to each other,” said Mayor Keller.
The lot where the event took place could also soon be home to a new park, library and community center. Voters will decide whether to approve a $7 million bond for the project in November.
