ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (KRQE) – Otero County officials plan to work with the U.S. Forest Service to figure out how to ease the fire danger.
County officials were concerned the Lincoln National Forest was not included in the forest thinning projects. The county went as far as saying it was going to conduct its own thinning projects, but a court ruled the county doesn’t have the authority.
Now, according to the Alamogordo Daily News, county commissioners have scheduled meetings with forest officials to figure out the best way to proceed. The times for those meetings have not yet been set.
