TUCUMCARI, N.M. (KRQE) – Discussion is underway to rehabilitate a historic Tucumcari park and the National Park Service is helping.
Five Mile Park used to be a hot spot along Route 66 but it took a turn after its swimming pool closed.
Now, city and county officials want to attract tourists to the area again. They’ve been working with an outdoor recreation planner from the National Parks Service to set the framework.
Officials say they hope to have a concrete plan by the end of next year.
