SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – More information about how a Santa Fe baby may have died have been released.
According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, a state medical investigator told police 25-year-old babysitter Rachel Smith could have rolled over on the child while the two slept.
Santa Fe police say Smith was watching a 3-month-old and 2-year-old at the Thunderbird Inn this past weekend. They say Smith admitted to shooting up heroin and then smoking pot before passing out with the children in bed with her.
She told police she awoke to find the baby unresponsive.
