Authorities say so far, more than 100 people have been shot in 2019 just in the first 100 days of the year.
The figures come from the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office. According to the Albuquerque Journal, this marks a 36-percent increase from the same last year.
The DA’s Office Crime Strategies Unit says there were a total of 232 shootings in 2018 with 64 or 65 of those shootings being fatal
According to the Albuquerque Journal, Jose Hernandez was the 114th person to be shot in the county since Jan. 1. Hernandez was a mailman who was shot while on duty by 17-year-old Xavier Zamora near 98th and Tower.
