No groundwater contaminated from PFCs at Kirtland AFB

News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Despite concerns at other Air Force Bases, Kirtland says it has detected no groundwater contamination linked to firefighting foam.

The EPA recently detected toxic chemicals that may have seeped into local drinking water at about 190 Air Force Bases.

One study based on the EPA’s test results show as many as 6 million people may be exposed nationwide to PFCs in their drinking water, but one foam manufacturing company, 3M, says there is no merit in the health claims.
