NMSU student sentenced to probation for mass shooting threat

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A former New Mexico State student, Zachary Hess, was sentenced Wednesday in federal court for threatening a mass shooting on the college’s Facebook page.The threat forced a campus evacuation last year.

The threat was traced to Hess’ computer.

He will be on probation for five years and has to pay the university more than $77,000 to repay the cost of responding to the threat.
