NMPOM creates awareness for organization

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A local organization is in a rebranding process to better represent their membership.New Mexico Parents of Multiples (NMPOM), once Albuquerque Mothers of Twins Club, will be voting in May to adopt a new name and logo for their organization.NMPOM connects families with resources that support them from the first news of a multiple pregnancy all the way through toddler years.Alden Gilligan and Yasine Armstrong, both associated with NMPOM, joined KRQE’s This Morning team to talk about the rebranding. Watch above.NMPOM has a fundraiser running throughout the month of April, March for Babies for March of Dimes. Their team will be making care packages that will be delivered to families with babies in the NICU at various hospitals around Albuquerque.For more information, visit their website.

Sheriff tells Gov. Lujan Grisham community being threatened over PHO

RUIDOSO, N.M. (KRQE) – One newly-elected sheriff in southeast New Mexico is reaching out to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. He says that state officials are threatening his constituents with jail time for violating the public health order.

Lincoln County Sheriff Michael Wood says he's had many business owners reaching out claiming state officials have sent them letters with language that if they violate the health order, they could land in the Lincoln County jail.

Anonymous package brings historic photos, documents back to Belen

BELEN, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Belen wants to know who sent an anonymous package full of memories to city hall. The package came from Canada but had no name on it. Inside the package, ended up being nearly 100 photographs and documents from the early 1900s in Belen.

"I was amazed. I love Belen history, absolutely love it," Jerah Cordova, Mayor of Belen, said. "For year's we've had the Belen Harvey House Museum here in town and we work day in and day out to archive Belen history and tell the story of our city there. And I thought it was going to make just the perfect addition to our archive. The photographs are fantastic."

Old Albuquerque house saved from demolition by Landmarks Commission

An old house in Downtown Albuquerque will stay put for now, after the city denied its demolition. The house has been on the corner of Coal and 6th street for more than 50 years, now a developer is being told they cannot tear it down, because of its historical and cultural significance.

The blue home, now surrounded by apartments looks out of place, but it once served as a boarding house for people coming to Albuquerque to work at the railyards. Nobody has lived in the 24-hundred square foot home for at least twenty years. Now the doors are boarded up, windows broken, and the city has declared it a substandard dwelling. Still, on Wednesday evening the City's Landmarks Commission denied the developers request to tear the house down, saying it's still in good condition and should be preserved.
